Describing herself as ‘late-middle-aged’ Penny Lyons defies being labelled. Singer, preacher, songwriter, musical director, wife and mum, Penny is a busy woman. Penny has always sung and written songs, but more recently has found a passion for reaching out to those who think that maybe they are over the hill. I met up with Penny on a glorious sunny day to find out more about what she’s doing……..
We’re so inclined to think that getting to 35 means we don’t feel that we can have a career change; it’s just too late to change and you’re getting past it now love. Which, of course, is actually ridiculous! If you look at the Bible, and who was in the Bible, God is saying ‘I need to encourage my people, right up to the last moment of breathing.’
So our whole thing is about getting out, to talk to Christians and say ‘You’re not done yet, we’ve got stuff to do.’ And it’s also about saying ‘It’s not about qualification, it’s about readiness. Because God will qualify you if you are willing to say ‘I’m ready Lord, what do you want me to do?’
And this is the thing I’ve found incredibly refreshing.
